Do you offer in-person therapy?
Not at the moment! I find telehealth to work just as effectively for my clients and myself, and many have shared that it is more convenient and increase access for services. I get to see folks from all over Texas and you don’t have to worry about commuting and parking. However, I do understand that sometimes folks prefer in-person connection. If that is the case for you, I may not be a good fit.
What do I need for online sessions with you?
A smartphone or computer with a camera and a strong internet connection is all you need! I will also ask that you have a private and safe space when we have session so you can express yourself fully. You will receive a link to join the secure and HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy space.
What is your cancellation/no-show policy?
Your time is specifically reserved for you so it is important you attend your sessions on time and regularly to reap the benefits of therapy. Cancellations will need to be made at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. A $100 late cancellation fee (within 24 hours of the session/ $175 no-show fee will be charged to your account (not your insurance company) for missed appointments.
Will others know that I receive services or what I share with you?
Confidentiality is one of the most important elements in therapy. Not only do I treat the information you share with me with caution and care, I am also legally and ethically bound to protect your information, which includes your attendance and what you shared in sessions with a few limitations. It is crucial that you feel you can trust your therapist! These are the exceptions for confidentiality in therapy to ensure your and others’ safety:
- Suspected or known abuse or neglect of children, the elderly, or persons of disability
- Intentions or threatening bodily harm to self or others
- Sexual exploitation between a mental health professional and a client
Court subpoenas
There may be instances where you would like me to share information with others such as your medical providers or family members. If that is the case, I ask that you provide me with written permission to release any information that you would like me to share with the individual.
Do you provide emergency/ crisis services?
I do not. Given that I am a solo practitioner in the practice, I am unable to be on-call at all times and do not want to delay treatment for you in the case of an emergency. If you are ever experiencing an emergency, including a mental health-related crisis, please visit your nearest emergency room or call 911. Other resources are included here.
What if we are not a good fit?
It happens! Sometimes it does take people a little bit to find the right therapist that they feel connected with. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you feel your needs could be better met elsewhere and I can provide you with referrals with other colleagues. It is very important that you feel connected with your therapist and truly, I would be happy to get you connected with others.
How long will therapy take?
Therapy is a highly personalized and individualized process that depends on many factors. Though it is safe to say that more than a session or two is usually necessary to make any headway in the concerns that brought people in the first place. There are folks that only need a few sessions and feel they got what they needed, and others may choose to address items that may need more space and time. There is no definite answer on the number of sessions you will need, and we will collaborate to explore what makes the most sense for you.
Do you provide therapy in any languages outside of English?
I am fluent in Mandarin and conversational Cantonese, and have successful experiences providing services to Mandarin-speaking clients.
What happens when we see each other in public?
As your treating clinician, I am ethically obligated to not identify you in any way as an effort to not break confidentiality, which means I won’t say hi or initiate any contact with you. You can choose to acknowledge me or not, based on your own comfort level and situation. Either way is totally fine!
Fees & Insurance
My fees for both intake appointments and ongoing therapy sessions are $175. Major credit cards, Health Savings Account (HSA) cards are accepted forms of payment.
I am currently in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, which means depending on your plan, you may only need to pay a certain amount of copay or coinsurance for each session. Give them a call to verify your benefits for outpatient mental health if you are interested to use BCBS to access services.
I am considered an out-of-network provider for other insurance companies, and I can provide a superbill for you to potentially get reimbursement from your insurance. *Full fees are due at the time of the session. If you are interested, call up your insurance company and ask them these questions:
Do you reimburse for out-of-network mental health providers? If so, what percent do you reimburse?
What is my yearly deductible and have I met it?
What is the process for submitting superbills for reimbursement?
